Test report
Categories: Car HiFi power amplifier mono
Product: Ampire MBM 500.1 (12 volt version of the MBM1.24V)
Power amplifiers that look small and harmless are often underestimated. The mono from Ampire's MBM series is the best example of this. It is packed with technology, the circuit board is filled with countless components, many of which suspiciously have more than three legs. The engineers have put a lot of brainpower into this circuit to generate the necessary efficiency in addition to the power, which makes such power development possible in the smallest of spaces. Of course, a Class D circuit is used, and Ampire has put a lot of thought into ensuring a clean signal. The output filtering is very carefully carried out, which leads to pretty good distortion measurements despite the digital technology. You don't have to worry about power with the 500.1; 276 or a good 450 watts will make even adult woofers tremble. The equipment also receives great praise; there is even an adjustable bass boost, and the extremely useful automatic switch-on for operation with the factory radio is also on board. In the listening test, the little Ampire reveals itself to be a powerful subwoofer tamer, and it also shines with enormous control. It keeps an overview even in more demanding bass passages. It can also impressively showcase hard kick drums and give them a very dry punch. A performance that is really impressive, so that the MBM 500.1 really deserves an award.
