Safety instructions
1. Please observe the following safety instructions and carry out all installation steps carefully and completely, as failure to observe them can lead to material damage, property damage and personal injury. Installation may only be carried out by specialist workshops!
2. First check whether the mats can be installed as follows:
a) For seats with glued covers, installation is difficult or not possible at all.
b) For seats with longitudinal trenches, installation is not possible.
c) For seats with a center panel less than 270mm wide, installation is not possible because the edges must end before the side longitudinal trenches.
3. Follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions if seat occupancy detection is present!
4. Follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions if belt tensioners are present!
5. Observe the vehicle manufacturer's instructions if side airbags are installed in the seat backrest!
a) Seat covers and seams must not be altered.
b) Heating mats may only be applied to the middle section of the foam padding.
6. Use the vehicle's wiring diagram to ensure that the on-board network and the cable cross-sections are suitable for the additional current loads.
7. Check whether there is a suitable place to install the switches
8. Only use the original components included in the delivery!
9. The heating elements must not be shortened in width. Longitudinal cuts are not permitted. Narrow transverse cuts are possible, as is shortening the mat at the end opposite the cable! (Fig. 1)
10. The heating mats can be laid through the transverse trenches in the foam padding, but the edges of a transverse cutout must end before the trenches.
11. The carbon fibers must not come into contact with electrically conductive components such as upholstery clips or seat frames. Insulate cutout edges with fabric adhesive tape.
12. The electrodes must not be damaged in the transverse cutouts. Keep a minimum distance of 40mm from the side edge. (Fig. 2)
13. The carbon fibers, which usually protrude a few millimeters from the sides of the mats, must under no circumstances come into contact with electrically conductive components. Any contact with guy wires when pressed together must also be avoided!
14. The heating elements must be securely fixed (e.g. with a suitable spray adhesive) and installed without any creases, otherwise there is a risk of fire!
15. Make sure that the heating elements are not damaged during installation. Possible causes are upholstery clips, auxiliary tools or sharp-edged seat frames.
16. When gluing the heating elements, the molded body must be free of silicone, grease and dust. Full adhesive strength is achieved by applying sufficient contact pressure and allowing sufficient exposure time. It usually takes a few hours. A completely installed heating element must not be removed and reinstalled.
17. When laying and fastening the cables correctly, also make sure that the seat can be moved easily in the guide rails!
18. Contact with sharp edges, kinks and tensile stress must be avoided in order not to damage the cable insulation!
19. Make a note of codes from volatile memories (radio, navigation, etc.) and disconnect the battery before working on the vehicle's electrics to connect the heating elements!
20. The heating temperature varies depending on the seat and cover material.
21. In the event of a failure, please check the fuse first!
22. When handing over the vehicle to the customer, explain how it works and the safety aspects.
Warnings
Observe the safety instructions and requirements specified by the vehicle manufacturer and the automotive trade!
The manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage in the following cases:
Installation or connection errors
Damage to the product due to mechanical influences and overvoltage
Modifications to the product without the express permission of the manufacturer
Use for purposes other than those described in the instructions
Caution!
Because of the risk of short circuits, always disconnect the negative terminal before working on the vehicle's electrical system. In vehicles with an additional battery, you must also disconnect the negative terminal.
Warning!
Inadequate cable connections can result in cable fires caused by a short circuit,
an airbag being triggered,
electronic control devices being damaged,
electrical functions failing (indicator, brake light, horn, ignition, light).
Safety note: Failure to comply can lead to death or serious injury.
Caution!
Failure to comply can lead to material damage and impair the function of the product.
Note
When working on only use insulated cable lugs, plugs and flat plug sleeves for the following cables: Terminal 15 (switched plus, behind battery)
Never use lamp terminals or branch connectors (power thieves).
The safest type of connection is to solder the cable ends together and then insulate them. For removable connections, only use insulated cable lugs, plugs and flat plug sleeves. Do not use crimp connectors (cable connectors) or lamp terminals. Use a crimping tool to connect the cables.
For connections to cable 31 (ground)
- screw the cable with a cable lug and toothed washer to a vehicle's ground screw or
- with a cable lug and self-tapping screw to the body panel.
Always ensure a good ground connection!
