To optimize reception of antenna systems, ensure that the antenna base or ground strap is optimally connected to the ground: 
Remove any existing paint from the contact points using workshop products and protect it against corrosion with a suitable contact paste and also treat the antenna rod thread and the antenna base thread to optimize contact.
