Hertz ML 1800.3 - 180mm woofer

The ML 1800.3 Legend was conceived and developed for enthusiasts who take part in competitions and require a component that combines the timbre accuracy of the ML 1650.3 Legend with the extension to lower frequencies that, thanks to the larger exit area, higher power handling and control, normally only a 50 mm voice coil can offer.
To achieve these results, the development department carried out extensive listening tests in the vehicle, after which various prototypes were built using the FEA simulation method and after which these were tested with a variety of measurements using the Klippel® measuring tools.
As with the settings for competition vehicles, the surround must withstand the most extreme working conditions in order to ensure maximum stability and symmetry even at high excursions, thus achieving influences and extension to lower frequency ranges.
For this reason, the electroacoustic designers have developed a new surround basket adhesive system, which is called “Boundary Free Surround”.
This technology offers the possibility of obtaining a wider emission surface of the cone compared to loudspeakers of the same diameter.
In this way, the cone manages to move a larger mass of air, producing a higher sound pressure.
