The Type-R subwoofers have been completely redesigned for easy installation of an ideal sound system. With a depth of only 115 mm for the 8-inch (20 cm) woofer, it offers even greater performance.

More deflection = more power
The new optimized drive structure combined with our revolutionary Multi-Roll beading (HAMR) gives the new Type-R subwoofer the highest Xmax and efficiency in all areas. With true measured 12mm Xmax, the new 8-inch (20cm) Type-R subwoofers enable the best bass reproduction without distortion and deliver unparalleled sound quality.

More drive power = more control
Starting with a new ten-piece segmented magnet structure, the new Type-R subwoofers deliver cleaner, louder and cleaner bass with even more control. This new magnet assembly is also an integral part of the next generation of Alpine Patented Radial Vented VC voice coil cooling system.

Keep it Cool = Keep It Playing
Alpine's patented radially-vented voice coil bobbin and air flow management system (US Pat. No. 7,634,101) helps minimize power losses and provides reliable reproduction by actively dissipating the excess heat from the voice coil. The new one-piece aluminum basket with integrated short-circuit ring is used with the entire surface as a heat sink. This makes the subwoofer safe and enduring even in the most extreme applications.

Optimized drive = maximum linearity
Alpine's patented geometric magnet structure creates a perfect symmetric magnetic field while optimizing magnetic density, which significantly reduces distortion while improving resilience and sound reproduction.

Improved power consumption
The oversized 38 mm voice coil allows increased power handling of 350 W RMS / 1000 W peak.

For best bass reproduction, we recommend using the Type Alpine Digital PDX or MRX amplifiers for the Type-R subwoofers.

4 unique alpine technologies

1. Optimized HAMR bead
The HAMR multi-roll beading allows extremely high deflection without sacrificing valuable membrane surface. The bead has been optimized for high linearity FEA and is injection molded from Santoprene ®. This HAMR technology is an important part of the entire woofer, designed for extreme deflection with distortion-free reproduction.

2. Optimized centering - reinforced connecting wires
The newly developed centering spider ensures that the diaphragm can always work reliably and consistently without causing disturbing noises at high deflection. The reinforced connecting leads are optimally incorporated in the centering without causing annoying background noise.

3. Radially ventilated voice coil bobbin and airflow management system
The Type R subwoofers use several patent pending cooling techniques. This cool fresh air is attracted and made the greatest possible contact with all heat-conducting parts in order to achieve optimum heat dissipation performance.

4. Optimized CRC engine structure
The optimized motor structure creates a perfect symmetric magnetic field while optimizing the flux density, which significantly reduces distortion while improving resilience and sound reproduction.
